Aged care homes
If you are unable to continue living independently at home, it may be time to move into an aged care home.
Aged care homes, also known as nursing homes or residential aged care, come in many different shapes and sizes but they will all provide you with accommodation in a home-like environment and access to services that meet your everyday, personal care and clinical care needs.
Many aged care homes across Australia receive Government funding to be able to provide older Australians with the care and support they need when they're no longer able to live independently.
There are also non-Government funded aged care homes which are called supported or assisted living complexes. These do not require an aged care assessment or Government approval for you to be able to access them.
