Divided into 5 wings. Most rooms have full ensuite, whilst other units have personal toilets and hand basins with a private shower facility in the unit.
Team Structure
Our team consists of clinical staff and specialists including registered nurses, endorsed enrolled nurses and personal care assistants available on-call, 24-hours a day. A social care team deals with activities and therapy. Team members are passionate, caring and friendly and go above and beyond to build a genuine rapport with residents and their families.

With attention to the complete health and wellbeing of our residents, the services we offer combine specialist care with quality of life. Beyond our standard care offerings, further services accommodate specific needs of residents such as providing a sewing space for residents who love to sew, or an an art space for a resident artist.
Dedicated specialist services such as physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech pathologists and dietitians are included in the accommodation costs. Optometrists and hearing specialists make frequent visits.
A fully functioning hairdressing salon is available on-site for residents’ use. Appointments can be made directly with the hairdressers.
Food & Diet
Our chefs ensure that healthy and balanced meal choices are always available and prepared on-site, 7 days a week. Meals can also be tailored to fit any dietary requirements. The menu is rotated seasonally and fresh food arrives throughout the week.Activities & Excursions
Various activities are held daily in the Village Hall, auditorium and lounge rooms, including: art therapy, indoor bowls, memory/word games, pampering, gentle exercises, Tai Chi, card games and bingo. The cafe is held every Wednesday afternoon, there is a weekly shopping trolley and happy hours. Leisure and lifestyle staff arrange outings for meals and events. A workshop group is hosted every week in a fully equipped workshop and there are vegetable gardens for residents with a green thumb.

With multiple large and intimate living spaces across each area of our 66-bed facility, the site is designed to provide the required degree of safety and care to the individual, while at the same time protecting privacy.
A nurse call system is located in each room beside the bed and in the ensuite, enabling 24-hour support if required.
The rooms are modern, comfortable and provide a very pleasant living environment, each having its own entrance, lounge, dining room and kitchenette for residents.
The Activities and Lifestyle Program is an important feature of the facility. This program ensures residents personalised are coordinated for residents to assist in the transition into the facility.

About Blackwood Cottage Blackwood Cottage is a 15 bed Older Person's Mental Health Residential Service for people over 65 years of age who experience challenging behaviours due to an enduring mental health condition or marked cognitive impairment. Blackwood Cottage is staffed by experienced mental health nurses. The unit has 2 activities officers and receives Allied Health support from the Beechworth Health Service. Nursing Staff are rostered 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.A Consultant Psychiatrist visits fortnightly and there are weekly medical reviews from a General Practitioner with a Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine.
