The Plains is conveniently situated in the southern suburb of Eight Mile Plains. The name “The Plains” derives from the suburb name. Also, as a topographical feature, “plains” evoke images of what we want The Plains to be for our residents – relaxed, accommodating, spacious and fruitful. The Plains Aged Care Facility has 108 resident rooms, all ensuited, with eight being double rooms. Each of the eight “houses” has its own kitchen, dining room, lounge, family room and activities space. Upper floor houses have balconies where residents may relax, enjoy the view, or watch the comings and goings. Ground floor houses have their own spacious courtyards with gazebos and extensive landscaping. The Village is blessed with an abundance of indoor and outdoor spaces for residents’ & relatives’ enjoyment. These include library, café, 300-seat community hall, central courtyard, town square, swimming pool (with spa nook), barbeque pavilion, pond area with gazebo, children’s playground and residents’ workshop. The Plains is a little different from some other aged care facilities, in that it operates on a ‘house’ (or ‘lifestyle’) model of care as opposed to a ‘medical’ model.
