The Plains is conveniently situated in the southern suburb of Eight Mile Plains. The name “The Plains” derives from the suburb name. Ground floor houses have their own spacious courtyards with gazebos and extensive landscaping. The Village is blessed with an abundance of indoor and outdoor spaces for residents’ & relatives’ enjoyment. These include library, café, 300-seat community hall, central courtyard, town square, swimming pool (with spa nook), barbeque pavilion, pond area with gazebo, children’s playground and residents’ workshop. The Plains is a little different from some other aged care facilities, in that it operates on a ‘house’ (or ‘lifestyle’) model of care as opposed to a ‘medical’ model. This means that resident areas are as home-like as possible, with no effort spared to avoid the institutional or hospital-like environments that characterise or used to characterise, the traditional aged care facility. This difference is deeper than the physical fabric (which certainly does look and feel eminently homelike).
