Doncaster Rehabilitation Services (DRS) primarily aims to provide quality restorative programs, maintenance therapy and therapeutic activities for eligible older people in the municipality of Manningham and surrounds in order to maintain or improve their physical, mental and emotional health so that their ability to continue living a fulfilling and independent life in the community is maximised.
The focus of services are to assist older people to regain physical, functional and cognitive abilities which support them to either maintain or recover a level of independence. This allows them to remain living in the community.
A comprehensive assessment is performed by one of the therapists employed by DRS prior to commencing a program. Services provided include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry and strength training.
Restorative and maintenance sessions are conducted in small groups or on an individual basis in modern well equipped premises located adjacent to Cassia House aged care facility. Individual and some groups are for a fixed period of time. Funding is provided by the Commonwealth Department Health through the Commonwealth Home Support Program and through a small fee charged to clients per session. Transport may be available for clients who have no support to get to sessions.
