Your questions answered

Uniting retirement villages operate under a Loan and Licence Agreement. This means you do not pay stamp duty. Instead, you make an upfront payment called an ingoing contribution, and while living in the village you’ll pay a fortnightly/monthly recurrent charge. When you leave the village, you’ll pay a departure fee known as Deferred Management Fee (DMF).

Visit our Costs and ownership page for more information.

Most of our villages are pet friendly. We only ask that you get approval from the village manager first, just to make sure your furry friend meets our community guidelines.

The social calendar is managed by residents and differs between villages, as activities and clubs are tailored to meet the interests and hobbies of each village’s residents. We encourage all new residents to take an active part in forming activities or groups that appeal to their interests if they don’t already exist in their village.

Our change-of-mind guarantee means that 100% of your ingoing contribution will be refunded to you if you choose to move out of the village within 90 days.

Fair market rent for that period, an administration fee and some other costs may apply. This is in accordance with the “settling-in period” under the Retirement Villages Act.

No, you won’t need to try to sell, market or refurbish your apartment. We’ll handle the whole process for you – another benefit of being part of the Uniting retirement living community.

To access residential aged care, you must first be assessed by your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). This assessment will help you determine what level of support you require.

We can’t guarantee you a place at our residential aged care homes, however we will do everything we can to support you in accessing the right care services.
